Great Barrier Reef  Family Tours

Great Barrier Reef family tours are all-inclusive departing Cairns daily.   Our tour starts boarding at 7:30 am for an 8:00 departure.

During the day, we will visit two outer barrier reefs, both located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Once onboard, enjoy our BBQ bacon and egg rolls along with some tropical fruits.  There are also options for vegetarians.

Along the way, don’t miss our interactive Marine Biologist Presentation.

Once we reach the reef, there will be a glass-bottom boat tour, scuba diving for certified divers and beginners and snorkelling.

During this tour, you will have several hours to explore the reef.

During the day, you may also see turtles and clownfish.  Pop on fins, mask and snorkel to see thousands of brightly coloured fish.

This day is packed with family-friendly activities so that the whole family can enjoy it.

Next, enjoy our delicious bbq lunch along with delicious fresh salads while we cruise to our following location.

Snorkelling and an optional extra to go on a guided marine biologist tour at our following location.  There is also an optional extra for scuba diving for introductory divers and certified divers at this location.

Also, you may add our Marine Biologist tour and learn about the marine life you see along the way.

After sit back and enjoy afternoon tea as we cruise back to Cairns.

Great Barrier Reef itinerary

  • 07:30 – Board Reef Experience boat at the Cairns Marina ‘A-Finger’ for check-in.
  • 08:00 – Approximate departure & Safety Talk with a snorkel briefing.
  • 08:30 –Next, enjoy our Marine Biology presentation,
  • 09:00 –  Followed by a detailed scuba dive briefing.
  • 09:30 – Arrive at our first spectacular reef site, snorkel and dive.
  • 10:30 – Glass Bottom Boat Tour (approximately 20 minutes).
  • 12:30 – Lunch
  • 13:00 – After lunch, Cruise to our second location.
  • 15:00 – Depart the Great Barrier Reef.
  • 15:30 – Glass of wine, tropical fruits, cheese and biscuits.
  • 16:30 – Arrive back in Cairns.

 Important Information for Scuba Diving 

We have a passion for showing you Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

Queensland, Australia, has some of the world’s strictest scuba diving rules and the safest scuba diving record.

We are regulated by the Queensland Government Code of Practice and comply with all regulations, including medical as is the law.

We recommend that all of our passengers complete our dive medical questionnaire.  This questionnaire will tell you if you do need to obtain a dive medical.

Some medical conditions, age and/or medications may prevent you from scuba diving.

Please take the time to be prepared to avoid disappointment on the day.

It is always our mission to provide our passengers with the very best Great Barrier Reef experience.

Flying after Scuba Diving

For a single no decompression scuba dive, you should not fly or go to altitude for at least 18 hours.

For multiple dives, you should not fly for 24 hours after your last dive.
If Skydiving or Hot Air Ballooning, you must wait 24 hours after your scuba diving.
We recommend waiting a minimum of 24 hours whenever possible.
