Sunlover Reef Cruises’ multi-activity reef platform

Sunlover Reef Cruise takes you to Moore Reef is the perfect destination to experience all the outer Reef offers. Visitors of all ages and abilities can view and interact with the Great Barrier Reef in many ways.

Snorkel in the naturally coral-fringed lagoon while trained lifeguards keep watch. Two snorkel platforms on the Pontoon with water access via stairs, providing easy entry to explore Moore Reef. An enclosed ocean pool is excellent for kids to swim in the saltwater at wading height, while a slide down the 30-metre spiral waterslide is a great way to enter the tropical ocean.

If you prefer to stay dry during your visit to the Pontoon, there are plenty of options to explore. A semi-submersible tour is a great way to tour Moore Reef without jumping in the water, while a glass-bottom boat tour provides views from above. Visit the underwater observatory to view the impressive natural fish tank with views of Moore Reef from the Pontoon. You will be able to see plenty of coral and marine life and go scuba diving and snorkelling.

Next, visiting the touch tank gets you up close to marine life while learning about this unique ecosystem.

In addition to the included activities, the Moore Reef Pontoon also has optional upgrades to explore the reef. Add a guided-snorkel tour to learn from the experts, while a Seawalker helmet dive is a unique way to see Moore Reef from below. If you are interested in diving, there are options for introductory and certified scuba divers. A scenic helicopter flight takes you to view the entire Moore Reef coral system from above.

Accessibility

Our catamarans have gangways for boarding from the Cairns Marina and from the boat to the pontoon.  These gangways are narrow, so you are advised to contact our Reservations team before your tour date to ensure your ability to board comfortably and safely.

We need to consider many factors which may affect the suitability, such as your level of mobility, the size and weight of the chair, and tide and weather conditions on the day of travel.

Wheelchair-friendly toilets are on the aft deck of both of our boats.  As required, portable ramps assist wheelchairs crossing hatchways and onto the gangways.

Our experienced team continually reviews weather conditions and will only ever operate if it is safe to do so.  We very rarely need to cancel due to weather conditions.  Refer to the Terms and Conditions for more information in the instance of a weather-related cancellation.

Self-guided snorkelling

Once you are settled after boarding the catamaran, a crew member will speak with all passengers as part of our At Risk Snorkellers risk assessment to ascertain if any health conditions may cause concern.  Our crew will be able to assess and provide our professional recommendation if snorkelling is safe for the passenger to participate in.  There are several ways we can assist to ensure safety, such as specially marked life jackets.
We have lookout crew members who are constantly overseeing the snorkelling area.

For participants of the Guided Snorkel tour, the minimum age to participate is 4.  Even if you are not a strong or confident swimmer, we recommend these guided tours safely guided by our marine naturalist.  A medical questionnaire is required to participate in this tour, which will be completed with the guide on the day of travel.
