Visitors can choose from several reef pontoons, tropical islands, outer barrier reef day tours, and liveaboards.

This reef is a fantastic location to learn to scuba dive, with the two world leaders in scuba diving, PADI and SSI, available.

Next, Spirit of Freedom leaves Cairns weekly for the Cod Hole and the Coral Sea for die-hard scuba divers. Spirit of Freedom operates a three-night, four-night, and seven-night programme for advanced divers. These trips are exceptional.

Scuba diving and snorkelling are prime activities in this location, and the bonus is that it is much closer to the outer barrier reef.

Most reefs are within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in Green Zones.

Green zones make up about 33 percent of the Great Barrier Reef. These reefs are no-take areas, and extractive activities like fishing or collecting are not allowed without a permit.
